The objective of this GitLab is to enhance the collaboration between the PPDS participants, exchange documentation about the PPDS, both at the business and technical levels, collect feedback from the stakeholders on the PPDS, and share the source code of PPDS tools and components. The Public Procurement Data Space unlocks the potential of public procurement data by providing a unique service where policy makers, public buyers, companies, and all other stakeholders can access information in an innovative and transparent way, as never before at European level. The PPDS will contribute to the development of a more competitive, fairer, and greener Europe. The PPDS is currently under development and will be gradually enhanced over time. Advanced capabilities are already available to data providers.

The PPDS contains information about public procurement in the EU, aiming to provide access to all information both above and below the thresholds, published in TED and the national procurement portals.
It covers information about the announcement phase of public procurement (competition notices) and the award stage (contract award notices).
The data that is ingested in the PPDS comes from various sources and therefore exists in different formats. To make it usable for analysis, the data is harmonised into a single language: namely the data ontology defined by the European Commission, the eProcurement Ontology (ePO). This standardisation allows information to be available in a unified format, regardless of its original source and structure. The ontology provides a common format and semantic harmonisation of the nomenclature used, allowing the mapping of concepts from member states into a single standard.
The PPDS leverages semantic technologies at its core, utilizing Knowledge Graphs for data storage to provide a sophisticated and interconnected representation of procurement data. This approach enables the consolidation and harmonization of vast amounts of data from diverse sources, facilitating comprehensive analysis and decision-making. Additionally, the PPDS employs other semantic technologies such as RML for data mappings, SHACL for data quality checks, and SPARQL for data analytics. Most components of the PPDS are open source, enhancing its accessibility and adaptability, and fostering a collaborative environment for continuous improvement and innovation.
Data quality rules are applied within the PPDS to ensure the good quality of the data regarding validity, completeness, consistency, accuracy, uniqueness, and timeliness.
